I went a little “bonkers” (is “bonkers” still a buzz word?) with my creativity this morning by carving up this cute fruit tray for my friend, Betty to take to a baby shower. I even went a little out there with its name…Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers Fruit Tray!
I think it turned out pretty cute, don’t you? I have seen this watermelon carving on Pinterest and other places before, but have never ventured out of my comfort zone to try to make one. I am very please with the end result for it being my first time. I have carved several other watermelon characters (i.e., an owl, a towboat, a sand pail, and a shark); each for a different purpose, but this was my first baby buggy.
Obviously, the baby shower is for a little girl by the pink bow on her head and the pink pacifier. However, my second attempt at this little cutie will be featuring a boy baby. Betty’s first grandchild is coming soon and he is a boy! I can’t wait to get that one posted.
Watermelon carving is really not as difficult as it might seem. I just jump in and somehow the final product turns out better than I had dreamed up in my head. For those of you who are itching to try this adorable fruit tray, the handle is merely a bent wire coat hanger with grapes strung on and of course, you buy the eyelashes, bow, and pacifier. The rest is luck and a few sharp knives (be careful)!
Let me know what you think of this carving creation by leaving me a comment at the bottom of this post. 🙂 Just scroll down and fill in the blanks…I don’t bite! 🙂 I go “bonkers” over your comments! 🙂
By the way, can you say, “Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers” three times, real fast without messing up the words? Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers, Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers, Rubber Baby… ~sigh~
Love and happiness!
I created the boy version of the Baby Buggy Fruit Tray (see the following pics):
I think he turned out cuter than the little girl!
