Happy New Year everyone! Did you “party like it was 1999” or did you spend a quiet evening at home ringing in the New Year? Contrary to what the picture might suggest, the Hubby and I spent a very quiet evening at home and slept the New Year in! We are not “party animals” and preferred to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and the New Year in the comforts of our home.
I did, however put together a Make Believe Champagne to toast the occasion. And I might add a very tasty beverage it is!
Christmas would not be Christmas without this warm beverage. Because we have a large Sun Room, the Hubby’s family collects here on Christmas Day to open the gifts before going next door to his parents’ house for Dinner. Every year (except one) I make this Perked Punch (Wassail) for the family to enjoy (especially our brother-in-law, Jim). I chose not to make the punch last year (2012) because I thought everyone was growing tired of the same ole’ thing year after year, but apparently I was wrong!
Today is the 139th Kentucky Derby and as a Kentuckian, I celebrate the day with some tribute in keeping with the tradition of the race.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! For a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage to ring in the new year, try this Sparkling Cranberry Cocktail.
