Have you noticed that I have been away for a long while? Let me explain over a cup of coffee and some Magic Cookie Bars.
Although it will happen to us all, death is always difficult under any circumstance. Short in stature, but tall in the mark he made on his family; my father-in-law has left this earth only to join my late husband (and his first son), Kevin. He left behind a loving wife of 62 years, two daughters, a son, grand-children, great grand-children, three sisters, a brother, and many others that knew and loved him. Nick-named by his first grandson, everyone called him G-Daddy.
It is totally crazy to me how fast the days fly by and equally as crazy is the roller coaster weather. One day last week, when it was raining and the overnight temperature was to dip into the low twenties, I whipped up this Oyster and Potato Soup.
Although the formative years of my childhood were in Southeast Missouri, my twenty-somethings were spent in sunny California. During my time in California, I became spoiled with the abundance of gorgeous fruit AND an avocado tree in the backyard of the property where I lived. I woke up this morning all inspired…inspired to make the best of the day! Perhaps it was the sunshine or maybe the great night’s sleep!
